Food Fixx Friday: Crock Pot Sweedish Meatballs

I found this recipe in a meal planning group I’m in and I haven’t tried it yet but I am going to very soon. It looks and sounds delicious. I’m sure there are different recipes out there but I chose the one that looked the best and easiest. (Mama Bear Friendly)

Please let me know if you have tried this one before or if you would suggest a better version of this dish. I personally LOVE recipes with the canned soup as an ingredient. They are simple to make and always tasty.

Simple Living

Just a Simple Day ~

All this beautiful sunshine is making me want to head for the lawn and garden store, but instead, I refilled my bird feeders and enjoyed having all the windows open while spending time with the family and doing laundry. I’ve had extra this week because of bringing our spring clothes out of storage. I need to get a few vacuum storage bags for our winter blankets because we have way too many, Mama Bear loves her blankets, though!! {Grin}

Post Scheduling Plan

I want to implement some sort of daily schedule to help keep track of what I’m doing. Each day will have a theme and my post for that day will sometimes reflect that subject. The goal is to do something each day that will simplify our home and life, to learn to let go and know that clutter is the enemy of simple living.
Documents
So let’s begin our weekly list here:
  1.  {Move it Monday or Motivate Monday} -Move it Monday will be the day for moving things around or making sure things are put where they belong. I added Motivate Monday as well because let’s face it we all know how Monday’s can be, we all need a kick in the butt sometimes on a Monday.
  2. {Turn it OFF Tuesday} – Turn the TV off or any other distraction you may have at home and take the time to be thankful for the day. Tuesday will rid you of noise clutter so that you can think more clearly and breathe easier through the day.. and who knows you may love it so much that it rolls over into Wednesday. (Wink)
  3. {What should I do with it? Wednesday} – We all have things in our homes that for some reason we cannot get rid of but also can’t think of a single good purpose for either. This day will be for posting things like this and for others to share ideas on where or what should be done with the item, and if enough people think garbage is the answer maybe we should listen!
  4. {Throw it out Thursday} -Thursdays will be for anything garbage, from paper clutter to ways of simplifying items in our homes that will reduce storage needs… also regular trash since Thursdays are when our trash is picked up I thought this would a perfect theme for the day.
  5. {Food Fixx Friday/Show Me the Grub!} – Friday’s I believe are gonna be my favorite! FOOD is the topic and these days will be for sharing cooking tips or recipes and much more. I also wanted to tell everyone about mine and my Uncle’s group on Facebook called Show Me the GRUB! <~~~ Click to check it out or join.
  6. {Simply Saturday & Sunday} – I won’t be posting on Saturday or Sunday. These days are about time with family and taking time off.

Thank you for stopping by, please give us a like, follow, pin and share.

Simple Living

Simplicity with Technology

Can simple living include technology? … I say yes {BUT} in moderation, especially when using social media sites which tend to throw a ton of different information in your face as you scroll through your feeds. This can be draining and you may not even realize it’s effect. I know my mind loves information but taking in too much at once is not helpful or productive. These sites need a good cleaning up just as much as our homes do physically. Mental clutter can even lead to a physical mess. (Believe me, I know) … So my challenge to you is to make time today to do a little social media clean-up! The easiest way to do this is to unfollow groups and only to follow your absolute favorite pages. Only keep what you love or is needed, while being mindful to visit your favorites when you like, not just out of habit but because you want to!
A few things I want to work on:

1.  Not using social media first thing in the morning.

2. The mindless scrolling habit.

3. Having things in my feed that aren’t loved or helpful in any way.
The internet is the most complicated form of technology in our homes today, but things like television and phones can cause stress too. Just last night I realized how much phone ringing drives me nuts!! Not only the phone rings but the base is also set to ring as well. So I decided to change things up a bit. I set the base ringer to silent and changed the phone to the least annoying tone available, what a difference it has made! Our phone is now quiet!”

My nerves are no longer frazzled by loud obnoxious ringing! The new tone kind of reminds me of a quiet office space not much going on and a simple call comes through. May sound boring to some but it’s peace to my introvert mind. As for the t.v. I could take it or leave it, this isn’t a problem area for me but if it is for you, my advice would be to keep a guide either bookmarked online or by using an app and watch television with intent not just having it on as background noise, leaving it off when nothing is on will allow your mind to rest and you’ll be able to focus other (more important) things. Good luck if this is one of your bad habits. I know they can be hard to break sometimes but so worth it in the end, just think of all you’ll accomplish.
Please let me know how it goes if you’ve accepted my challenge.  I’d love to know what difference it has made.

Simple Living

A Warm Welcome

Hello everyone, happy first day of SPRING! Well, it’s not so warm here yet but, I wanted to do an introduction to my little space on the web today. I’m praying this blog will bless others but also allow me to keep my thoughts and dreams and life in order. I started blogging in 2009 on Blogger but have recently decided to switch over and start from scratch. So a little about my family, I live with my husband and our two sons in the coal fields of Appalachia and while life hasn’t always been so simple the dream has always been present in my heart. I hope you will join us and subscribe to A Simple Living Dream and also join us on Facebook. With a baby in the house I may be slow with posting at first but Lord willin we shall see how it goes.
